The wind sings soft
Lovesongs for strangers
Just like us, who pass on the street
It sets the mood
For that first moment
When our eyes are fated to meet
Asking us now
To stop and notice
This is real before it's too late
And to somehow
Know in this moment,
Recognize, a reason to wait
The rushing world
It pulls us onward
Not caring that this is our chance
A quiet sound
So out of place here
Interrupts, as leaves start to dance
Leading our steps
And changing our pace
We become so lost in their wake
We find ourselves
Standing face to face
With the choice we're forced to make
Do either speak?
Our words are quick
Excuses always made
Start to move, but our knees go weak
Remembering
When we've met before
In our dreams, in this exact way
Always before
We would pass on by
We could think of nothing to say
Then we would hear
Lovesongs for strangers
In the wind, before we would wake
We think this dream
Can't end in that way
That, for us, this risk we should take
Uncertainty
Replaces your warm smile
And I know it is up to me
I say hello
And begin to hope
Against hope, that it's meant to be
As the wind sings
Lovesongs for strangers
Just like us, who pass on the street
