EdBenes RedSonja Cursed Colors

Ed Benes is literally the reason that I am in comics. I remember the particular day, the particular store, and the particular book that caught my eye and made me stop and look at the comics rack again. This was years ago but it is still just that clear. Until that moment, I had stopped considering comics as a really serious storytelling medium. Of course I was wrong! However, it took this special artist to prove it to me. Ed is, quite simply, one of the very best rendering story-to-panel artists that there is. And that's not just my opinion. Look at his artwork and disagree with me, I dare you.

About a month ago now I found that Ed had joined deviantART. This was both a great surprise and a relief for me. I'd kept up with his website and it had disappeared. At first I was concerned that this might be a ripper claiming to be Ed but I have realized this is not the case. Now I am very excited to see the works he is submitting to his gallery.

I have no ambition to be thought of as insane. I'm actually aware that there are a good number of people who think that about me anyway. I am submitting this coloring after a month of on-and-off work in my spare time as an introductory gift for him. Yes, I think there is a fair chance that he will not like this picture that I've done and if that is the case then I will remove it immediately. As it is, this is my respect for him. As always... this is done in my poor painting style and the obvious problems with it are solely my fault and have nothing to do with the amazing sketch that they have been layered over.

This character is Red Sonja from Robert E. Howard's fiction. I'm aware that there is already a coloring of this picture in Ed's gallery but I am a sucker for redheads. :]
